How I Record Music_Part 3_Rym Tracks
This one is
for the students @ RLS.
The author
of this blogs intent is to address the voice that lives inside all of us. This little
voice that can inspire or intimidate us down to the very foundation of whom we are
…and
that is a lot of shizzle. Let’s just keep "it" simple by focusing “it” on Audio
Arts and Science.
The science
aspect of Audio Arts & Science gives way to the Disneyland aspect of Audio
Arts in a heartbeat. It's the faintest whisper of the little voice inside all of
us telling us to run around unrestrained yelling “Wheee” at the top of our lungs.
If you’ve ever experienced Disneyland from the POV of a persons
first time in the park; you can imagine what it's like
for the non-initiated during their first tracking session in a professional recording studio.
At some time
during your run through Disneyland the little voice inside yelling "Wheee" starts to overpower itself, the term is over stimulation. The way to combat it, in the studio anyway, is
thru Science. Disneyland is thru exhaustion ...which can happen in the studio too.
Binary Bob
helped to define the constants of Creativity:
1) Don’t be an unpleasant person (a Dick)
2) Physics
That about
covers the Art aspect. This information may help you through your rhythm tracking session challenges. They will arise.
The Science
aspect is equally as simple:
1) A good scientist doesn’t function by conjecture
2) A good scientist functions by hypothesizing
then proving or disproving that theory.
3) Objectivity wins.
Now that you’re
comfortably burdened with the knowledge of things you can’t change go out and
jump down the rabbit hole of creativity. These tips are to help "get your head in the game". Now you're ready for rhythm tracks.
Don't forget your anchor to reality ...Physics.
It's a science thing ...
